Introducing...

Judah Byrd Lockhart
9lbs 13 oz
21 1/2 inches
10 fingers 10 toes and only one nose
His head circumference is 15.5 inches (ouch)
April 13, 2009 (one day before his due date!)

I have some recovery in my future...I love pain meds :)

The epidural worked wonders, giving birth wasn't nearly as horrid as I imagined...not something I'd sign up to do for kicks but not horrid.

Judah is a bible name, one of the men in the lineage of Jesus. In fact one of the names for God is "Lion of Judah" because the tribe of Judah (bible history trivia) is what they called the lineage line he was from. There were 12 tribes named after brothers.
Judah was the youngest of the brothers and when his mom delivered him she said "Praise God, I am done having babies!" and that's what his name means Mostly it was the Praise God part but the other part made me laugh and it's what I've been feeling the whole pregnancy so it was appropriate, although I may do this again just not for a LONG LONG time.

Byrd is a family name. Byrd Lockhart was a courier at the Alamo and Lance is a direct descendant of this person. I am still learning the story but his family is very proud of the history and Lance's dad shares it as his middle name also. His dad is tickled to pass the name on.
Personally it reminds me of our wedding day when we were married at the Roseman Bridge in Madison county and the birds sang their hearts out the entire wedding and in my mind was one of the more beautiful things about that day, a gift from God to me with all the beautiful singing of his creation.

I write 10 blogs a day in my mind but with nursing (which is going great) and recovery they don't make it out of my imagination. There will come a time where I will write down many of my thoughts and capture my memories in writing. Until then the camera is handy at all times and I am treasuring many things in my heart.

Sincerest congratulations to you both. God is wonderful in his gifts to us! Isn't it amazing to think that God created you to be the caretaker of this little soul?

The love grows larger each day - it is something that cannot be understood until it is experienced - and now you will start that journey; the one that at times leaves you in awe and breathless from the feelings of love and protection over Judah.

Congratulations again and all the best to you and Lance.

Oh, I love the "I'm done having babies" part of the story. : ) Thanks for giving the story behind the name. You know that this history dork eats that stuff up! Can't wait to see you all in June and kiss that little head!

Congrats again Jamie!! Have you thought of creating a blog just for little Judah? My sister and cousin started ones and they also do this really cute thing of taking their pictures for each month "birthday" with a cutely decorated number to go with it. Anyway, what a little cutie he is!!

Jamie, I am eager to meet you some day. I love reading yours and Lance's blogs. You both are very creative people. Is it "kosher" to copy and paste things I like that you have posted? I liked the 4 birds cousin thing; loved your idea of God sending the birds to sing at your wedding and many other things. Looking forward to more news of the Nashville Lockharts. Love, cousin, Linda from Texas. PS when I was growing up, it my Mom who had all the relatives. Daddy just had older brothers in Arkansas and Tennessee, with much older cousins who we met maybe 1 time.
