Happy camping continues!

So day 2 of our happy camping trip began with all of us waking up in our warm comfy beds at my brothers house...we had more cinnamon rolls for breakfast...they had made a great dinner the night before so we were happy to have more!

My brother Ira went outside and once again repacked our car...we ended up needing to "edit" our packing so we would have room to pick up Lance from the airport on our way to a camping spot we knew for sure had openings. So we left behind things like bikes and strollers and fire wood...hehe.

And off we went to the airport! Unkie/Daddy Lance had arrived!!! oh joy!

The drive to our camping spot was not to bad, and when we got to the camp grounds and saw all the open spots we were relieved to say the least.

But...it couldn't be that simple now could it?! lol

We picked a spot...unloaded the car...and when the tent was half set up...we realized that the site we were setting up on was RESERVED...and not for us. haha. So once again...Ira loaded up the car...something he was getting very very good at by this time...

The kids and I decided to just walk around the camp grounds while the boys found us a site that was open...we found a fun play ground area and were really just enjoying being out of the car!

In the end we found a wonderful camp sight. Lance and Ira had great team work. Two mountain men in their element. It was great.

The rest of the day went smooth and was highly enjoyable. I'll post some pics now and let them tell the story!

Judah kept wandering off, and since we all needed to help set up camp and
no one could follow him...he was relegated to baby jail :)

Photobucket

so much easier in the day light! they had the tent up quick as a lick!

Photobucket

look! I'm camping too!

Photobucket

The trees we were camped under were full of acorns...and these little buggers were landing all around us...this one landed in our peanut butter...it was very dramatic. Luckily no one got beaned by one of them on the head...they were loud when they hit the car and the picnic table...

Photobucket

time to get the fire going! the boys were pretty excited about this part I think...

Photobucket

Ira started the fire with out matches...he's a real outdoorsman.

Photobucket

Even Beck got in on the wood chopping fun...much to his mothers horror...lol

Photobucket

one of everyone's favorite activities on our trip was kicking the soccer ball around...

Photobucket

our fun little camp sight all set up and ready for whatever came our way!

Photobucket

Judah was loving being outside, it was all so interesting to him! I think he is like his father on this one...I've never been much of an outdoor kinda girl...
but Judah took to it like a fish in water...

Photobucket

two happy outdoorsmen!

Photobucket

Oh yes, nursing must continue...even camping!

Photobucket

Ira did some pretty cool woodworking on our trip...I'll post the finished products tomorrow. Beck got in on the action sanding some wood down.

Photobucket

look! it's me again! thank God for my pink hat...my hair was already bad...lol

Photobucket

this picture reminds me of a picture I've seen of my own siblings and I camping when we were kids...I wish I had it but I think it's in my moms picture files...

Photobucket

cousins!

Photobucket

Miss Evie spent a lot of time being Judah's "little mommy", she would follow him and make sure he didn't get hurt or lost. It was super super cute. They loved each other!

Photobucket

Every mom who has ever gone camping has had a moment of pure terror that their kid would fall into the fire. I know I did. I wasn't worried he'd try to get into it, but he's still pretty tipsy and falls over pretty easy...oh I could picture it...horrible...so I tasked the other kids and adults to keep Judah away from the fire.
At one point Beck turned into a football player line man and he put a shoulder into Judah and knocked him over as he was trying to run for the fire...it was rather comical...and of course Judah cried, Beck felt bad, I thanked Beck and Ira and I laughed...and poor Lance didn't know what was going on.
At this point, Lance decided to create a barrier of sorts...and it turned out to be just the thing...

Photobucket

Here he is pulling down a limb that had caught lighting at some point in time...

Photobucket

It was exciting when it dropped and hit the ground with a bang!

Photobucket

We brought it back to the fire and it doubled as a teeter totter :)

Photobucket

Judah played here for a good half hour...climbing up and over and practicing stepping off and up...it was pretty cute...he's getting much better at stairs!

Photobucket

pretty soon the cousins joined in on the fun :) who knew a concrete parking slab could be so much fun...the joys of camping.

Photobucket

Hey look! there I am again...well, my legs anyways...

Photobucket

and this my friends is why I am considering having a second child. wouldn't lance be such a good daddy to a little girl? oh my ovaries are talking...never thought that day would come.
Miss Evie adores her unkie lance...any time he went anywhere she would yell "uncle lance wait for me!!!!!!!!" and run after him...it was adorable.

Photobucket

and when night falls and the smores come out along with the stars..
.that is what makes camping all worth it.

Judah was so tuckered out from all the fun and fresh air...he nursed to sleep by the camp fire...it was precious...it has been a long time since he fell asleep in my arms.

Day 1 (technically day 2...haha) of camping was a success...

I could have lived with out the night that followed. It was FREEZING.
but that is for another blog, another time...

Your posts make me want to have a bonfire and Smores... But not camp.

Is that so wrong?
