Once upon a time...

There are only a few people who have seen me (and i mean this physically) in all my life phases...the growing up in WA phase...the being a College student and then a Pastor in MN phase...and the being a wife and mom in TN phase.

My mom and dad.

My sister.

My brothers.

And as of tomorrow, my friend Leslie.

Needless to say I am happy to see her.

Once upon a time we used to pull out an Oreo cookie when we saw a good looking guy and we'd "twist" to see who had dibs.

Once upon a time we never called each other by our actual names...she was Gorgeous and I was Beautiful.

Once upon a time her parents were my "parents" while my actual parents lived 2000 miles away.

Once upon a time I put on quite a lovely (I actually wore it several times, it actually was pretty...and trust me, that is rare) bridesmaid dress and had the privilege of standing up in her wedding.

Once upon a time she met me in an airport when I was flying to Rome just to give me a hug. (pre-heavy security days when people could come to the gate)

Once upon a time she helped me decorate endlessly huge white walls in a college dorm when she knew no one but me.

and as of tomorrow...I will be able to say

Once upon a time I introduced my dear friend to my baby and showed her around my town "Nashville".

Now won't that be something. Just one more entry in the time line of a dear friendship.

Around Here

My version of my friend Becca's blog post...

Around here we love to smoosh our faces into pillows and then giggle...

Around here eating avacados is fun for the whole J likes them mixed with nana's or pears and mommy and daddy like some salsa mixed in served on a chip. What a wonderful treat!

Around here we love to make monkey noises...all of us!

Around here we get really excited when Daddy comes home and around here we sing "ain't no sunshine when he's gone" every time he leaves...

Around here we love to watch Survivor, Bachelor and American Idol...reality tv is fun!

Around here it is bedtime at 6:00 for the babs. It is nice to have so much grown up time in the evenings...and a very well rested baby boy who is pretty much always happy when he's awake.

Around here we love to go out for Sushi at Ru Sans and dance to the techno music while we eat.

Around here we know how to point to our noses, our teeth and our bellies...and clapping gets everyone excited!

Around here we take the garbage out a lot...nobody likes a stinky diaper!

Around here we try to win free money by searching on Swagbucks...join and win too and use this link so I can get some credits! It is way to much fun to just search things on the internet now because of this...easily entertained right here!

Around here we think it is fun to pull all the tissues out of the box and throw them around....wait...that one is all Judah. :)

Around here we love to save money...couponing at Harris Teeter is fun for the whole family...Judah especially loves the free sugar cookie he gets!

Around here we are thankful for love. We are blessed to have respect and kindness for each other in our busy days and in our baby days.

Around here life is good!

So it may look like he is snuggling in this photo but really he was trying to see out the airplane window :) either way I took advantage of the moment and stole a few snuggles. In general he doesn't sit still long enough for much snuggling...he is very energetic and wiggly, just as he should be.

This is more normal...somewhere on the floor wiggling around making faces at his mommy :)

ug. I could just eat him up! so sweet!

Swagbucks's a new thing I'm's what someone else had to say about it...

if you sign up to use here so I get the referral credit (pretty please)

How you earn the points

Search Engine: This easiest way to earn swagbucks is to use their search engine instead of google or yahoo! This is the only thing that I have done and I seem to average about 5 swagbucks per day just by doing this!

Shopping: You can shop through links once you are signed into your swagbucks account and you will earn 1 swagbuck for every $5 that you spend!

Trading In: You can trade in cell phones, MP3 players, Game consoles, and video games to earn points for each item. (as much as 300 points or more depending on the item).

Referring: This is probably the best way to earn your swagbucks. Swagbucks has an awesome referral program. You receive swagbucks as your referrals earn them in addition to anything that you earn on your own. You earn what they earn...not a percentage! If someone signs up under you and earns 5 Swagbucks...then you earn 5 Swagbucks too! This is the most awesome referral program that I have ever seen! No company has ever matched 100%!

There are hundreds of prizes that you can earn through Swagbucks. The gift cards come in the form of an eGift Card (meaning that you will only be able to use it online).

Just to name a few...

450 : $5 Amazon Gift Card
400 : $25 Gift Card
700 : $5 Paypal Deposit
990 : Free movie ticket
1250 : $10 Barnes & Nobles Gift Card
1300 : $10 Starbucks Gift Card
2200 : $20 Target Gift Card
3200 : $25 Macy's Gift Card
+ so many more!

My top 3 tips for making Swagbucks work for you:

1. USE it! Sign up and install the Toolbar right away. It's just like the Google toolbar that has a little search box at the top of your browser. Anytime you think of something you need to search, just use Swagbucks instead of Google (or Yahoo or whatever you use to search). I tend to earn 1 or 2 swagbucks each day and I only search for things that I really need to search for. You don't have to sit there and search for things for hours on fact, Swagbucks doesn't reward you for that kind of thing, so you won't end up getting more Swagbucks for that than if you just use it as your search engine.

2. Check the Swidget. If you scroll down to the bottom of my posts you will see a little black box. That is the Swidget. If you hit "Swag Codes" it will tell you if there is a valid Swag Code available. Swag Codes are just extra Swag Bucks that you can earn by watching for them. Sometimes the code will be right there on the Swidget. Sometimes they post one on Twitter or Facebook or on their blog. These extra bucks add up fast if you just keep an eye out! I click on the Swidget once a day or so just to see if there is something out there. (You can install your own Swidget if you have a blog, or just keep checking mine!)

3. Invite your friends! When you refer people, you earn Swagbucks when they do! That just helps you add up those Swagbucks faster and get your prizes sooner!

Give it a won't regret it! It doesn't take much extra time (after you install the toolbar, it requires ZERO extra time to search using Swagbucks) and pays great dividends!

When this imports to FB it won't import the have to actually visit my

This is SO cute! My mom posted it on her fb page and I stole it :)

We have been buying Judah moose items since he was mom kind of started it when she bought us the cutest lamaze moose toy for Judah before he was born...then one of the first times we went flying I dropped the moose in the airport long term parking lot and Lance had to go search and retrace our steps to find it...

Actually, now that I think about it...on our "honeymoon" to Canada we found lots of moose to take photo's maybe we started it and my mom picked it up and passed the torch to Judah...hmm... we find him hats and outfits and toys that have moose on cute! This little video is a nice part of our moose collection...who knew a baby moose could be so cute!?!!

Love is missing someone whenever you're apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you're close in heart. ~Kay Knudsen

I love you peeps

"I love you peeps"

So many meanings in such a simple phrase...

I love my "peeps"

I love "peeps"

what it really comes down to is love.

sugar sweet, better if it's a little aged (some would say stale), good any time of the year but especially good on holidays...

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (I John 3:1).

live. laugh. love.

You can't deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants. ~Stephen King, Hearts in Atlantis

I feel like laughter has plopped down in our home and is stickin' around. It is a welcome visitor. I'd like for it to move in and take up permanent residency.

Lance has been pretty light hearted lately...laughing at lots of fun stuff. Laughing together is my idea of a good time.

Judah is finding his laugh. A good tickle will guarantee it but it's more satisfying to make a funny face or do something entertaining to secure a laugh from his little body.

I watch Ellen every day and find myself in tears from laughing. That girl cracks me up.

So...Lance, Judah and Ellen all have me laughing these days...

One more thought on laughter..

I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose. ~Woody Allen

We do not live in a vacuum. Everything we do somehow effects others.

There is nowhere else this is more obvious than in a marriage.

There were a lot of years where I thought what I did only really effected me. I think it is a lie of the single life.

As my husband deals with some of the things I brought to the marriage and I deal with the things he brought, it is even more obvious to me.
As I think about how I want to raise my son and how I want him to learn and grow into a good man it is even more real and seems so much more important. Probably because he is so innocent.

Some people still buy into the idea that they can do things that don't effect others when they are can see the effects of that thinking ending in divorce and rarely leads to people feeling closer and more trusting. That what they do doesn't matter in the lives of their kids...oh the kids I have seen over the years carrying burdens placed on them by their parents. (kids camp prayer would break your heart to hear the things kids cried to God about...)

So as I try to wrap my mind around the concept that everything...and I mean everything I think, do, say, believe, act on...that everything my husband, to my son, to the friends I love, to my family...I think this filter causes me to want to make better choices. Not because I'm a people pleaser but because I don't want to be a people hurter. (apparently hurter is a word cause spell check didn't give me the red line...)

I have spent a lot of years thinking about legacy. About what I want to leave in the lives of those I love. Now that I am a wife and a mom I think about it even more.

sleep freak

I am a sleep freak.

I have to toss this certain way, move my leg that certain way, wiggle twice, twitch once, have my pillow just so, white noise at just a certain level, L's snoring kills my chi so earplugs are handy, blanket must be touching my face, water next to bed in case, bedroom door closed, ceiling fan off, lights out, baby monitor in sight, clock in sight for when baby wakes so I can check it, jammies worn this way, hair pulled back that way, toss this other way, pull my leg over the covers just so...and on and on it goes until maybe, just maybe I fall asleep an hour later.

And some nights even all that doesn't help me.

In high school my mom used to read the bible to me before bed to help my mind wind down. I was even more of a sleep freak then.
In college I built myself into a cocoon of sorts, ran a fan, wore ear plugs and went to sleep after everyone else so I wasn't forced to keep listening to people around me.

I wish I could just fall asleep and stay asleep. It is a trait my husband has that I am completely envious of. For him and being a pilot it is necessary so I am happy for him...but still envious.

Like right now. I did everything I could think of and nadda. I actually felt more awake and energized and annoyed at the air than usual. I don't know why. Either way, Judah will be awake before 7:00am so I will go try again here in a couple minutes.

So tell me, what are your sleep routines and habits? are you a sleep freak like me? or more like my DH?

wishing all my sweet friends sweet dreams :)
