sleep? what's that?

oh my goodness you guys, last night Lucas went to sleep at like 7:20 and I had high hopes he'd sleep through the night...but alas, he woke up at 11:15 and proceeded to have an epic crying, hitting, pushing, growling fit...I was 90% sure it was teething, so I forced some ibuprofen into him (ever tried giving medicine to a child who is fighting you? yeah, awesome) and roughly half an hour later he calmed down and sat on my lap for a while and eventually let me nurse him and put him back into bed around 1:00.  Poor baby. I wish teething wasn't so hard for him. I was tired and finally got into bed at 1:20...only to have darling Judah Byrd wake me up at 3:15 to tell me he was no longer tired. Um. yeah, I put him back to bed with fishy crackers and water and told him to snack until he was tired again...plus he always has books in bed with him. He woke me up again around 6:30 to go potty and I put him back in bed again hoping I'd get another hour out of him, it ended up being like 45 minutes...but it was enough that I wasn't a total zombie. Lucas slept till almost 8, go figure, he was tired after staying up so late.

This is just a typical night around here lately, at least the month of January it has been like this. I am about 1 second away from ordering one of those day/night/awake/sleep clock thingies from amazon for Judah...don't be surprised if I come back in a week and give you an updated product review. ha.

We had a fun morning at the Shelby Park Community center running around the gym and now Lucas is napping and Judah is watching Lion King. They both ate a great lunch and I am feeling pretty darn good considering the lack of sleep I started the day with.  I do think I may need to take a little nap though if I'm gonna make it through the rest of the day...it's a very similar schedule to having a new born, waking up every 2 hrs...at least with a new born, they are in your room and you don't have to wake all the way up to nurse them, this galavanting all around my house every couple hours to deal with one child or the other makes me wish I could co-sleep...but I am too much of a sleep freak, and so are my kids, so no sense even going there mentally. Just have to carry on with the night time antics and remind myself that this is just a season...a very long, exhausting season ;) they are seriously lucky they are cute and that I love them to pieces, cause mama is tired!

okay, I promise I'm not complaining as much as trying to pep talk myself into keeping up a good attitude in spite of my tiredness....attitude seems to suffer the most, followed closely by health. I will say, at least no one is sick right now! (knock on wood)

so those are my ramblings from today, I may come back later and blog again...I had this desire to make my blog make sense and have some flow and rhythm and a certain style...but, reality is, I just need to write when the muse hits and if it makes sense, fine, so be it, and if not...it's probably a more accurate reflection of who I am anyways...so that's that!

I hope you all got some sleep last night!  and by "all" I mean, whoever still reads my ramblings...anyone? anyone? lol

Get one! Tot Clock! Worked so well for us! DOn't buy from amazon if you get that one though, because it's $10 MORE than on mytotclock.com site. They even sell used ones on mytotclock.com for $34.95, which is great! Good luck with whatever you do!!

Sleep is SO hard with kids! Ours share a room, so if one wakes up, usually the other one does too. We got Hakan this clock, http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=535409&cmSource=Search, with the sound turned off of course, but it changes color for whatever time you set it in the morning, it's pretty cool, he's just starting to use it and stay in bed until it changes color at 7:30. I'll be praying for some sleeping boys!

I was jumping on to say we are in deep solidarity with you! And probably awake at the same moments (last night was every 2 1/2 hours. Terrible. Leaves a girl so dead tired.)

And then I saw these comments on the tot clocks and such...never even knew there were such things!
Off to look into these wonders of the world...

Joyfully,
Becca

Oh dear. Sorry for this. I'm thankful my kiddos are - USUALLY - pretty good sleepers. Knock on wood. :) And, for the record, my sister bought her daughter one of those clocks, and they love it. It's worked really well for them, from what I hear. GET ONE!
